Blue Fireball’s filter drawer #P-21 makes it easy to insert and remove a 1.25" filter into your optical train between your camera and telescope. It uses a strong magnetic holder for a precise, secure, and repeatable fit. This device is perfect for imagers who want to quickly swap out filters without using large and heavy filter wheels. This drawer has an optical length of 16.4mm.
The Blue Fireball filter drawer holds a single mounted 1.25-inch filter with standard M28.5x0.6 threads. Filters with a cell thickness (height) of up to 8mm and a male thread length of up to 2.7mm will comfortably fit inside it. Each filter drawer comes with two filter holders. Additional filter holders are available separately as well.
The filter drawer has an M42x0.75 external thread on the camera side and a M48x0.75 internal thread on the telescope side. Blue Fireball, Baader Planetarium, and ZWO offer adapters that you can purchase separately if you want to adapt the telescope side of the drawer to an M42 T Thread or if you want to adapt the camera side to an M48 thread.
The filter drawer and slider are made of precision CNC-machined aluminum in a flat black anodized finish. The total assembly (filter drawer plus holder) weighs 3.3oz without a filter.
Also included are two 1mm thick unthreaded spacers (one for either side) that can sit over M42 and M48 male threads to provide some degree of spacing and/or orientation control.
Finally, please note that the M48x0.75 female thread on the telescope side does not have an internal stop but this should not be an issue with the use of 1.25" filters at all.
Blue Fireball also offers filter drawers for 2" mounted and 36mm unmounted filters separately. The filter drawer housing is the same in all 3 versions, so you can use your 2" or 36mm Blue Fireball filter holder/slider in this drawer as well, allowing you to mix and match 1.25", 36mm or 2" filters in your imaging train with the same drawer just by swapping the filter holders.
