The Sun Finder provides a convenient and safe way to locate the sun in your (filtered!) telescope.
Never look directly at the sun. With the Sun Finder, you look away from the sun as you point the finder toward the sun. The Sun Finder uses pin-hole projection to show a small image of the sun on the back of the finder, and a cross-hair makes it easy to center the sun on the target.
The Sun Finder can be mounted on most telescopes using one of the included attachments below. For example, the finder can be mounted in a Synta style finder shoe or on a Losmandy dovetail bar, just to name two.
The system consists of two parts: (1) the Sun Finder and (2) one of several different attachments.
Attachments bolt onto the Sun Finder and present several options. Available in black only regardless of the color shown in the photos above. Can be oriented in either direction.
Select one of the following attachment options at the time of checkout (included):
- LSaddle: Losmandy saddle that clamps onto Losmandy/"D" rails
- VSaddle: V-type saddle that clamps onto a Vixen bar/rail
- VBar: Vixen type bar that slips into a V-type clamp
- ADM-MDS-Saddle: ADM MDS saddle that clamps to a MDS style bar
- ArcaSwiss-Saddle: Arca-Swiss saddle that clamps onto an Arca-Swiss rail
- ArcaSwiss-Bar: Arca-Swiss bar that slips into an Arca-Swiss clamp
- Synta-Bar-20mm: Synta/Vixen bar that slips into a Synta/Vixen finder base, 20mm tall
- Synta-Bar-50mm: Synta/Vixen bar that slips into a Synta/Vixen finder base, 50mm tall
BuckeyeStargazer's items are made of PETG plastic and can handle temperatures of up to 80°C (175°F).
