We have been receiving many questions about the unfolding tariff situation. At Agena Astro, transparency and customer communication is our priority, so we wanted to take the time to answer your questions:
Q: What does this mean for me?
The key info:
- If you plan to order gear, we recommend doing so before prices increase.
- We don’t know when prices will go up as manufacturers generally make these decisions.
- Sign up for our emails to stay informed.
- Existing pre-orders & back orders can be canceled if prices change.
- Some items may be unavailable for back order until we know more.
Q: Will prices of astronomy gear go up?
A: Generally yes, but it depends on the brand / manufacturer. Many of the brands we carry are based in countries affected by the tariffs. Some have already raised prices, while others have managed to hold off. We anticipate that many brands we carry will soon be forced to raise prices with the increased tariffs announced on April 2nd, 2025.
Q: When will the prices go up?
A: We aren’t sure. These decisions are generally made by the manufacturers, and we aren’t always made aware in advance. If you’ve been eyeing something in stock, consider ordering now to lock in the current price. We'll do our best to email any price changes if we hear from the manufacturers far enough in advance. Q: If I place an order or have a pre-order / back order, can the price change?
A: It depends. If the item is in stock, your price is locked in. If it’s on pre-order or back order, the price may change. If the price increases, we’ll email you with the new total. You can choose to accept or cancel. We won’t charge or ship until you confirm.
