JSCOPE-80L
80mm f/15 refractor OTA package with a genuine Made-in-Japan top-quality objective lens. The Fraunhofer doublet long-focus objective lens is manufactured using high-level polishing technology, yielding extremely sharp images with minimal chromatic aberration. The main parts of the telescope such as the thick solid metal lens cell, the beautiful glossy white finished main tube & dewcap are also made in Japan. The GSO 2" dual-speed Crayford focuser ensures very smooth and fine focusing. The 145mm max. long backfocus allows most 2" accessories to reach focus. A pair of lightweight metal tube rings and a 335mm long Vixen-compatible dovetail plate come standard.
Optics
The 80mm f/15 air-spaced Fraunhofer doublet achromat objective lens is made by Kubota Optical (Hanamaki-City, Iwate, Japan.). All four surfaces are HTM fully multi-coated, achieving an extremely high transmission rate of 99.8%. Thanks to the stable long-focus achromat design, both chromatic and spherical aberrations are well corrected. Furthermore, Kubota Optical's careful and precise polishing technology has resulted in extremely precise and smooth optical surfaces. This provides peerlessly high image quality. Even at excessive magnifications exceeding 200-250x, there's little perceptible image deterioration. Not only are the views sharp and clear but also yield rich tones, especially on planetary surfaces. It's really a premium objective lens that boasts ultimate performance and truly embodies the "Made-in-Japan pride".
Focuser
The JSCOPE-80L includes a GSO 2" dual-speed Crayford focuser with 10:1 microfocus. This allows for extremely smooth and delicate focusing at high magnifications. Metric/inch scales on the upper surface of the drawtube, two fastening screws with a brass compression ring for the 2” eyepiece adapter, 2"-1.25" adapter (w/ M48 filter threads) and a Vixen/GSO/Synta compatible finder bracket base (finder shoe) all come standard. Please note: Most GSO Crayford focusers have or will soon develop two bearing marks/lines on the upper side of the drawtube. This is caused by wear on the barrel anodizing where is makes contact with the roller bearings. In some focusers, you have to look hard to find these marks. In others, it is very prominent, even for brand new items. This does not indicate a defective or used product and is just cosmetic.
Tube / Dewcap / Lens Cell
The main tube and dewcap are made of lightweight & robust aluminum alloy with a beautiful glossy white finish. The inside of the tube is painted matte black with well-designed baffles to eliminate stray light reflections and improve image contrast. The objective lens cell is made of thick solid aluminum alloy which holds the two delicate lens elements in collimation. A silver badge is affixed to the side of the tube indicating the optical sepecifications and ensuring that the scope is Made in Japan.
Tube Rings & Plate
A pair of lightweight hinged metal tube rings and a 335mm long Vixen-compatible dovetailed plate come standard. The long plate helps reduce vibrations of the long tube when loaded on a mount. In addition, located in the center of the dovetail plate are two holes (8.2mm dia. / 35mm distance) that are compatible with most Takahashi mounts using M8 bolts.
Collimation
The precisely machined tube and durable lens cell assembly ensures that the optical axis stays in perfect alignment. Kasai collimates each telescope one-by-one and will be maintenance-free for the user under normal day-to-day useage.
