Long Perng's "RPL" Orthoscopic Lanthanum eyepieces are a Japanese-design improvement by Kitakaru San of the traditional orthoscopic design, providing a wider field of view with negligible chromatic aberration. These eyepieces minimize optical distortions to deliver crisp views of the moon, planets, and compact deep-sky objects.
With a focal length of 18mm, this 1.25" 4-element eyepiece offers a 62-degree apparent field of view with 9mm of designed eye relief. All optical elements are fully multi-coated and edge blackened for maximum transmission and high contrast. The eyepiece also includes pop-down rubber eye guards to keep stray light out of your eyes.
The body is CNC machined with a tapered nosepiece to help prevent the eyepiece from slipping when not fully secure in the focuser. The Long Perng 18mm RPL eyepiece weighs just 117g and has a length of about 83mm with eye guards fully extended.
Note: The barrel of the 1.25” Long Perng Long Eye Relief eyepieces are threaded for M28.6x0.6 filters sold by Orion – in most cases, they should be compatible with standard 1.25” filter threads from other manufacturers.
