The Long Perng 2" Twist Lock star diagonal features a twist-tight clamping mechanism that securely holds 2" eyepieces and accessories with a simple clockwise twist of its red aluminum collar. Unlike diagonals with thumb screws, the Long Perng Twist Lock diagonal applies equal inward pressure to center eyepieces and camera nosepieces in the optical path of the telescope. There is no marring, scratching, or gouging of the eyepiece barrel or nosepiece, and there's no thumbscrew to accidentally fall out in the dark. The knurled aluminum twist-tight collar is easy to grip and adjust even while wearing gloves.
The diagonal also includes a 1.25" adapter so it can be used with both 2" and 1.25" telescope eyepieces. The 2" holder and 1.25" adapter both feature the twist tight collar to provide the same secure, self-centering, and scratch-free grip for both 1.25" and larger 2" eyepieces and astronomy accessories.
The Long Perng 2" Twist Lock star diagonal uses a mirror with dielectric coatings to provide >99% reflectivity to provide the brightest possible views possible through a refractor or Cassegrain telescope. Note also that it cannot be used with Newtonian/Dobsonian reflectors.
This diagonal incorporates a rugged anodized aluminum housing with internal baffles to eliminate internal reflections and ensure optimal contrast. It also offers a long working life without degradation since dielectric coatings are more durable than less expensive enhanced aluminum coatings.
The diagonal includes two end caps. The nosepiece is threaded for M48x0.6 and will only accept 2” filters made by Orion - they will NOT accept most other 2” (M48x0.75 threaded) filters on the market.
