Stargazing Mode
In Stargazing Mode, the Seestar will display a list of Tonight's Best objects based on your location! You can also choose to choose from categories of objects like galaxies, nebulae, star clusters, planets, comets, and the moon. For more experienced users, you can also manually search any of the 4,000+ celestial objects from catalogs such as Messier, NGC, IC, SH2, and more!
Solar System Mode
In Solar System Mode, you can select to observe the Sun, Moon, and the planets. It will even let you know the current altitude of the object to let you know if it's visible! While the Seestar S50 is not very well suited to observe the planets because they are so small, you can still enjoy spectacular views of the Moon and the Sun when using the included solar filter.
Scenery Mode
In Scenery Mode, you can manually operate the Seestar S50's camera to capture wildlife, landscapes, cityscapes, and more. You can access settings like exposure, autofocus, manual focus, and telescope movement speed. There are three distinct modes within Scenery Mode: Photo, Video, and Time Lapse. Each one offers a unique way to capture the world!

GoTo & Tracking with the Seestar S50
Traditional telescopes usually require a frustrating manual setup, including aligning the finder scope, polar alignment, and finding the object in your eyepiece. The Seestar S50 fully automates this process, letting you focus on the fun part of enjoying the cosmos! Once you choose an object to observe, it will orient itself with the night sky and begin to calibrate. Then, the S50 will use GoTo technology on the altazimuth mount to find the object and begin tracking it, keeping it centered for hours.
Premium Triplet Apochromatic Optics
The Seestar S50 features triplet apochromatic optics, the same featured in professional level telescopes. This refractor telescope design gives you razor sharp views of the night sky with little to no chromatic aberration. This lets you get the highest-quality images possible!
The Seestar S50 features a focal length of 250mm, which is perfect for capturing wide field views of the cosmos! The Seestar S50's field of view perfectly fits the full discs of the Sun & Moon. Full HD Image Sensor
The Seestar S50 uses the highly-rated Sony IMX462 sensor, which features STARVIS technology. The Seestar S50 sensor features a resolution of 1920x1080 (full HD) which allows you to capture ultra sharp and detailed images. Noted by astrophotographers for its excellent sensitivity in low light, this sensor lets you capture stunning images of the night sky with very low noise! The Seestar S50 includes a dew heater that you can turn on and off in the app which reduces the possibility of dew forming on the sensor on humid nights.
Built-In Filters
The Seestar S50 features three types of built-in filters:
- A duo-band filter that cuts through light pollution and moonlight by isolating wavelengths of light like H-alpha and Oxygen III, which is helpful for capturing objects like emission nebulae and more. This filter can be turned on and off within the app.
- A UV/IR cut filter integrated into the camera sensor to reduce star bloat, which is ideal for objects like galaxies and star clusters
- A dark filter used to automatically take dark frames for calibrating out unwanted noise
Not Just for Nighttime: Solar Filter Included
The Seestar S50 comes with an externally-mounted solar filter designed for safely photographing the Sun. The included white light solar filter features a metal-coated outer surface and a bandpass of 580-630nm for capturing sharp images of the solar surface, including sunspots!
Live Stacking on the Seestar S50
In astrophotography, stacking multiple images on top of each other helps reduce noise and improve detail. The Seestar S50 features live stacking, which will stack each new image as it comes in on top of the previous ones, greatly enhancing the image! An optional AI Denoise tool is also built in to the Seestar app, which greatly reduces noise on faint objects. Watch your images go from grainy, faint blobs to detailed, colorful astrophotos in just a few minutes!
Go Wide with Mosaic Mode
If an object doesn't fit in the Seestar S50's field of view, it has a trick up its sleeve: mosaic mode! Also called "Framing" in the Sky Atlas portion of the Seestar app, this useful mode will automatically stitch multiple image regions together to create a seamless image up to 2x longer in each dimension (for a total of 4x the area). This allows you to capture entire objects like the full Andromeda Galaxy, the Orion Nebula, or other large regions in space!
Stable Wi-Fi & Bluetooth Connection
The Seestar S50 utilizes both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity that makes it easy to connect and operate it from anywhere, even if you don't have cell service! That means you can head out to a dark sky location and easily use the Seestar S50 without a connection.
