This Nikon Lens Adapter for ZWO 2" Electronic Filter Wheels allows you to connect large format ZWO cameras with a ZWO filter wheel to a Nikon F mount lens. Please see the full compatibility list below to ensure this adapter is correct for your camera.
There are four Nikon lens to ZWO camera adapters:
- ZWO Filter Drawer for Nikon Lens # FD-Nikon - best for color cameras with use of a 2" filter
- ZWO Nikon Lens Adapter for ZWO 2" Electronic Filter Wheel # EFW2-Nikon - best for large format monochrome cameras that use a 2" filter wheel (this product)
- ZWO Nikon Lens Short Adapter for ZWO 1.25”/31mm/36mm Electronic Filter Wheel # EFW-NIKON-II - best for small format monochrome cameras that use a 1.25"/31mm/36mm filter wheel
- ZWO T2 Thread to Nikon Lens Adapter for all ASI Cameras # NIKON-T2-II - best for connecting most ZWO cameras without the need for quickly changing filters
Compatibility with Nikon Lenses:
This adapter is compatible with Nikon F mount (DSLR) lenses only. It is not compatible with Nikon mirrorless lenses. NOTICE: G-type Nikkor lenses need to find some way to open the aperture up (for example, by using an orthodontic rubber band to hold the little aperture tab on the lens in the “open” position.)
Compatibility with ZWO Cameras:
This ZWO adapter allows you to attach a Nikon F-Mount lens to select ZWO cameras that have a backfocus of 17.5mm via ZWO's Electronic Filter Wheels (EFW). This includes all cooled (Pro model) cameras that have an APS-C sized sensor or larger. It has a female F-Mount bayonet mount on the lens side and a male M54x0.75 thread on the other side which connects to the 2" EFW. The EFW, in turn, connects to the ZWO camera.
Compatibility with ZWO Filter Wheels:
- ZWO 7-Position Electronic Filter Wheel for 2" or 50.4mm Filters # EFW-7x2
- ZWO 5-Position Electronic Filter Wheel for 2" Mounted or 50.4mm Unmounted Filters # EFW-5x2
- This product cannot be used with 1.25"/31mm/36mm EFWs and you will need EFW-Nikon-II if using a 1.25"/31mm/36mm filter wheel.
How to Connect the Nikon Lens Adapter for 2" EFW
Note: The sensor tilt adapter will need to be removed before you mount the camera to the 2” EFW.
Detailed Instructions:
- Prepare the ASI camera, Nikon lens adapter, Nikon lens, 2” EFW, screwdriver and hexagon wrench
- Use the hexagon wrench coming with the camera to remove the sensor tilt adapter
- Use the screwdriver to remove the back cover of EFW
- Disassemble the filter wheel carousel (Note: Please do not disassemble or move the central screw of this carousel, otherwise the EFW will be damaged)
- Align the four screw holes of EFW with these in the four corners of the camera chip as shown below. Tighten the screws
- Reassemble the EFW
- Mount the Nikon lens adapter on the back cover of EFW
- Connect the Nikon lens to the adapter.
- All Done

Please Note: It is common for the silver plate on one side of this adapter to have several light scuff marks right out of the box. These items are new as received from ZWO, and these marks are purely cosmetic.
